Four new leaders of the ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party were, on Saturday, included in the party’s highest policy-making forum.

They are the party’s senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed, member of the chairperson’s advisory council Aman Ullah Aman, former acting convener of Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP Farhad Halim Donor and member of the chairperson’s advisory council Md Ismail Zabiullah.

This information was given in a press release signed by the party’s joint secretary, Muhammad Munir Hossain.

It said the four leaders had been nominated as members of the national standing committee with the aim of increasing organisational dynamism, in accordance with the party’s decision.

Among the new members, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has long been serving as BNP’s senior joint secretary general. Aman Ullah Aman was earlier the convener of Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP.

Farhad Halim has served as the acting convener of the same organisational unit. Ismail Zabiullah is currently serving as the [chairperson’s] advisor on public administration.

BNP’s last national council was held on March 19, 2016.

After that council, the 21-member national standing committee was reconstituted. Later, several positions on the committee fell vacant for various reasons, including the death and resignation of members.

The party has added new members to fill these positions at different times. This time, four people have been added to the standing committee at once.
