Police arrest 296 in Dhaka

Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested 296 suspects and filed 46 cases during its routine anti-crime operations conducted across the capital over the past 24 hours.

The coordinated drives resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of narcotics and other items, including 132 kilograms of cannabis, 14,765 Yaba tablets, 2 grams of heroin, a crude cocktail bomb, seven plastic containers filled with petrol, a motorcycle, an auto-rickshaw, a CNG-run vehicle, 13 mobile phones, a jeep, a knife, two anti-cutters, and a key.

The arrests included 54 suspects from Tejgaon Division, 52 from Wari Division, 42 from Uttara Division, 41 from Mirpur Division, 36 from Motijheel Division, 22 from Ramna Division, 21 each from Lalbagh and Gulshan divisions, and seven by the Detective Branch (DB).

According to a DMP statement, the suspects were arrested during coordinated raids carried out across different police station areas in Dhaka as part of the force’s ongoing efforts to combat crime, narcotics trafficking, and the possession of illegal weapons.

Legal action against the arrested individuals is underway.
