Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Nazrul has said that Bangladesh will not accept any unreasonable conditions if the International Cricket Council (ICC) imposes them under pressure from India.

Controversy has been ongoing for several days over Bangladesh’s participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Bangladesh has remained firm in its position and is opposed to travelling to India to play the tournament.

Speaking to journalists at the Secretariat on Tuesday on this issue, the adviser said, “If the ICC bows to pressure from the Indian Cricket Board and tries to impose pressure on us by setting unreasonable conditions, we will not accept those conditions.”

Speculation continues over whether Bangladesh will ultimately participate in the T20 World Cup. A final decision is expected tomorrow, Wednesday (21 January). ICC representatives informed the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) of this timeline during a meeting last Saturday.

Asif Nazrul also said he has no information suggesting that Scotland would replace Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup if Bangladesh decides not to take part.
