Judge of the Cox’s Bazar Woman and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Court 2 Abdul Goni handed down the punishment.
The condemned convicts are-Mohammad Jahangir Alam, Abdul Shukkur, Alamgir Hossain alias Bulu, Mizanur Rahman and Md Shahidullah.
The court also fined them Tk20,000 each.
According to the prosecution, two siblings—Mohammad Hasan Shakil, 10, and Mohammad Hossain Kajal, 8, sons of Mohammad Forkan of Garjania in Ramu upazila of Cox’s Bazar district, were abducted by the convicts on 17 January 2016.
Later, they demanded Tk4 lakh as ransom from the family of the two siblings.
Failing to get the ransom money, the convicts killed the two boys and dumped them into a canal.
A case was filed with Ramu Police Station.
