The authorities of main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Saturday brought major changes in the central committee.

The information was disclosed through a press release signed by Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, senior joint general secretary of the party.

39 positions of the central committee, including the post of vice-chairman, were reshuffled, while some new faces were given new responsibilities in the party central committee.

Former central committee leader Asaduzzaman Ripon was made vice-chairman of the central committee, former BNP lawmaker Zahir Uddin Swapan was made advisory council member while former publicity secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee was made joint secretary general of the party.

The party could not hold a council though its term expired long ago.

Earlier on Friday, BNP dissolved its Dhaka, Chattogram and Barishal city units and Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal central committee.
