Shawdesh Desk: An alleged Rohingya miscreant was killed in a gunfight with the Teknaf police in hilly area of Jadimora under Teknaf police station in Cox’s Bazar early Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Noor Mohammad, 34, son of late Kala Meah of Jadimora in Teknaf; he was the prime accused in the murder case filed in connection with the killing of local Juba League leader Omar Farook.
Teknaf police officer-in-charge Pradeep Kumar Das said that they arrested Noor Mohammad and another Rohingya miscreant Aman Ullah, another suspect in Omar Farook murder case, raiding Ulochamari hill of Hinllha under Teknaf police station on Saturday afternoon.
Later, on early Sunday, a police team, along with Noor, went to Jadimora hilly area for arresting his accomplices.
When the police reached the area, Noor’s accomplices opened fire on the police to snatch their leader, prompting them to retaliate that triggered the gunfight, the OC said.
After the hour-long gunfight was over, the police rescued Noor Mohammad with bullet injures and took him to Teknaf hospital where doctors declared him dead.
The police also seized four local made guns, one three-quarter gun and 18 bullets from the spot
Three policemen, including an inspector, were injured in the gunfight.
The injured policemen are — inspector ABMS Doha, Officer-in-charge (investigation) of Tekanf police, constable Arsadul Hoque and constable Antar Chowdhury.
Teknaf Juba League leader Omar Farook was shot to death allegedly by Rohingya miscreants on August 22.
The police, so far, arrested five Rohingya miscreants as suspected killers of Omar Farook and with Noor, four of them were killed in gunfights with the police.
Aman Ullah, another Rohingya miscreant and suspected killer of Farook, is now in police custody.
According to local people, Noor Mohammad entered Bangladesh along with his family in 1992.
He owns four houses in Jadimora area under Teknaf police station.
He collected his smart card from Chittagong City Corporation in 2017.
According to documents, he was Noor Alam, son of Kala Meah and Saro Begum, and born on 25 in 1983. His NID number was 6004589963 and permanent address was Masterer Mar Bari, Burma Colony Hill view road, West Solosaha Part-2, 4211, Panchlish, Chittagong.
