The United Nations encourages ‘peaceful, credible, and inclusive’ elections in Bangladesh, deputy spokesman for the UN secretary-general, Farhan Haq, has said.
‘Regarding the elections, the United Nations encourages peaceful, credible, and inclusive elections in Bangladesh,’ he said in a media briefing at the UN headquarters on Monday.
Regarding the issue of the Rohingyas, he said, the United Nations appreciates the generosity shown by the government and people of Bangladesh towards the refugees.
‘And we hope that continues,’ said the deputy spokesman for the UN secretary-general.
