Ekushey Padak recipient eminent artist Abu Taher breathed his last on Friday around 12.00pm at the United Hospital after suffering from cardiac arrest . This is a great loss for the Bangladeshi art scene. He had been completely bedridden for the past few years, especially after having brain injury from a tragic accident. His Janazah will be held tomorrow (December 19) after  Zohr prayer at the Baridhara DOHS mosque.

Abu Taher is a prominent abstract artist, and has been awarded several prestigious awards throughout his life, including the Ekushey Padak. His wife Meherunnesa also passed away 2 years back from cardiac arrest. He is succeeded by two daughters, two sons, and several grandchildren.
