Two youths burnt dead in Chattogram slum fire

At least two people were burnt to death and several others injured in a fire at Halishahar Barapool slum in the port city early Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Sohel, 35, hailed from Chandina upazila in Cumilla and Jakir, 35, from Kachua upazila in Chandpur.
Farid Uddin, assistant director of Chattogram Fire Service and Civil Defence, confirmed the matter.
He said, “On information, 6 units of fire-fighters rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after 1 hour of frantic efforts”.
Later, fire service officials recovered the charred bodies of the men from a house.
However, the reason behind the fire could not be known yet, he added.
