18 Rohingyas arrested after fleeing Bhashan Char

Chattogram Metropolitan Police with the help of locals detained 18 Rohingyas at Zorargonj thana under Mirsarai upazila on Sunday morning, who had reportedly fled Bhashan Char refugee facilities.
Helal Uddin Faruki, inspector investigation of Zorargonj thana police confirmed that the locals had held the Rohingyas in the economic zone area before handing them over to the police.
During interrogation, the arrestees said that they had reached the economic zone area on a reserve trawler from Bhasan Char in an attempt to get to Kutupalong Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar.
They were handed over to police by the locals on Sunday morning.
Process of filing a case against them is underway.
