At least 17 people were killed and two others went missing as a boat capsized in a haor in Madan upazila of Netrakona on Wednesday.
The identities of the deceased could not be known yet.
According to sources, the trawler was going from Uchitpur to Gobindshree carrying some 48 passengers and sank near Rajalikanda area at around 11:45am.
Confirming the news, Madan Upazila Nirbahi Officer Bulbul Ahmed Talukder, said members of Fire Service and Police are conducting rescue operation.
