A fire that broke out at the Chittagong Shopping Complex near Gate No. 2 in the port city has been brought under control after approximately two hours of frantic efforts.
According to the Fire Service and Civil Defence, the blaze originated around 9:45AM on Saturday. Firefighters received the first report shortly after and quickly dispatched five units to the scene to contain the blaze.
The fire was brought under control by around 12PM.
Primary reports suggest that the fire might have started from a warehouse on the second floor of the building.
However, the exact cause behind the blaze has not yet been confirmed.
Authorities stated that the cause of the incident and the extent of the damage will be determined following a full investigation. No immediate reports of casualties have been confirmed.
