State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir on Tuesday signed a condolence book at the Nepal Embassy in Dhaka on behalf of the Bangladesh government following the devastating floods and mudslide in northern Nepal.

The disaster on 26 August killed hundreds of people, including tourists, and caused extensive damage to property and infrastructure.

In his message, the state minister conveyed the “heartfelt sympathies and condolences” of the Bangladesh government and people to the Nepalese government and people over the tragedy.

“At this hour of profound grief, our sincere thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this terrible tragedy,” he wrote.

Bangladesh also expressed solidarity with the people of Nepal and said it was ready to extend any assistance required.

“As we stand together, we are confident in the resilience and strength of the people of Nepal to overcome the challenges with fortitude,” Kobir said.
