Hadi murder: Court bars accused Faisal, wife from leaving country

A Dhaka court on Monday imposed a travel ban on Faisal Karim Masud, the prime accused and alleged shooter in the murder case of Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, and his wife, Shaheda Parveen Samia.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Shahjahan Kabir passed the order following an application filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Assistant Director Md Saifur Rahman.

According to the application, the ACC is investigating allegations of transactions involving Tk127 crore in the bank accounts of Faisal Karim Masud and people linked to his interests.

During the investigation, a reliable source reportedly informed the ACC that the persons concerned might flee the country, it said adding that the travel ban was necessary in the interest of conducting a proper investigation into the allegations.

According to reports, West Bengal Police and the Special Task Force (STF) arrested Faisal from the Bangaon border area in India on 8 March. He has remained in custody in an Indian jail since then.
