The government will take necessary action against any media outlet that publishes or broadcasts speeches by ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina with advance announcements despite existing court directive, prime minister’s adviser on information and broadcasting Zahed Ur Rahman said on Tuesday.

“The government had previously issued an advisory to media outlets on the matter,” he said while responding to questions from journalists at a press conference at the secretariat on the progress of the government’s various activities.

If any outlet announces in advance that Sheikh Hasina will deliver a speech and publishes or broadcasts that announcement, it would amount to disobeying the court’s order, he added.

“We will once again remind everyone not to engage in such activities. It is the responsibility of every individual and institution to comply with the court’s directive,” Zahed said.

The government’s duty is to ensure the implementation of the court’s decision,’ he added.

The adviser said that anyone who disagreed with the court’s directive could challenge the order before the court.

But as long as the court order remains in force, everyone must comply with it, he added.
