A group of Higher Secondary Certificate candidates blocked roads in Science Laboratory and Uttara areas in Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon, demanding resignation of education minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon over the decision to continue the ongoing board examinations despite persistent rain and waterlogging.

The protesting students gathered near Science Laboratory area at about 2:30pm and blocked both sides of the road, causing traffic congestion.

Commuters were seen getting out of public transports and started walking towards their destinations.

On Tuesday, students brought out processions in Dhaka, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Barishal, Jashore, Tangail, Rangpur, Cox’s Bazar and Cumilla districts throughout the day before announcing Long March to Education Ministry programme at night.

Meanwhile, some HSC examinees blocked a road in Uttara in the capital, as part of their previously announced Long March to the Education Ministry programme.

After the exams ended at about 1:30 pm on Wednesday, students blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway in front of the BNS Center, halting vehicular movement on the road.

Students from several educational institutions, including RAJUK Uttara Model College, Nawab Habibullah College and Uttara High School, were seen on the road.

A huge number of police were seen taking position in front of the Shikkha Bhaban in Dhaka in the afternoon.
