Education and primary and mass education minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon on Tuesday said that decision on holding the Secondary School Certificate and equivalent examinations from January 7 next year could be rescheduled if the stakeholders wanted.

While speaking to the journalists at the Bangladesh Secretariat, he also said that the date of the 2027 SSC examination was brought forward and set for January 7, taking into account discussions with various stakeholders and the holy month of Ramadan.

‘This exam is coming forward by a month due to Ramadan,’ he said and added that, ‘otherwise, we would have wanted to take it in the last week of February.’

Following some discussions on social media, he continued that they could sit again to review the exam schedule based on public opinion.

Education minister on May 14 announced that the 2027 SSC, HSC and equivalent examinations will begin on January 7 and June 6 next year, respectively.

‘We aim to synchronise the schedules of these two exams to close the gaps where students waste nearly a year waiting for both SSC and HSC exams,’ he said on the day, adding, ‘we have targeted December as the ideal month for completing both exams to ensure the students can transition immediately into further admissions.’
