Rush of Eid time travellers starts

Huge number of people started rushing to Dhaka’s train, and bus terminals since Monday morning to leave Dhaka ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, one of the biggest religious festivals of the Muslims.

No major incident of traffic congestion was reported till the afternoon on the major highways.

 

Due to heavy rainfall the travellers faced sufferings on their ways.

The country is set to celebrate the Eid-ul-Azha on May 28.

The government declared seven days’ public holiday starting from Monday marking the Eid.

Since morning hundreds of people started to crowd the Dhaka railway station in Kamalapur area.

Since morning several trains on northern routes were running behind their schedules.

Lalmoni Express on Lalmonirhat-Dhaka route was running around four hours late, Nilsagar Express on

Dhaka-Chilahati route and Rangpur Express on Dhaka-Rangpur were running around three hours late and Ekota Express on Dhaka-Panchagarh route was running about one-and-half-an-hour behind the schedule.

On the day, Bangladesh Railway introduced one women-only coach on both Jayantika Express and Sonar Bangla Express. Railway’s director general Md Afzal Hossain said that if demand increased they would expand the purview of this special facility for women.

Crowd of travellers were seen at the capital’s three inter-district bus terminals at Gabtoli, Saidabad and Mohakhali.

Meanwhile as different apparel factories started vacation many people started to leave the industrial areas huge crowd was seen at Baipail area in Savar on the day.
