BGB retaliates as BSF opens fire in Sylhet bordering area

Border Guard Bangladesh has responded strongly to the incident of firing by Indian Border Security Force in Sylhet bordering area.

BGB 48 Battalion commander Lieutenant Colonel Md Nazmul Haque told New Age that the BSF had fired a shot towards the Bangladesh territory in Sonarhat border area of Goainghat upazila in Sylhet on Monday afternoon when the BGB fired two shots instantly protesting at the BSF firing.

 

‘The BGB, however, quickly brought the situation under control with their firm and professional action. No casualties were reported in the incident,’ he said.

The BGB officer said that strict security had been strengthened in the bordering area after the incident and surveillance had also been increased.
