Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former MP Mia Golam Parwar on Saturday announced that the party will organise a pre-budget dialogue titled “Allocation in the Education Sector and National Development” ahead of the 2026–27 national budget session.

In a statement issued to the nation on 17 May, Mia Golam Parwar said Jamaat-e-Islami, as the main opposition party in the Jatiya Sangsad, would present a model budget proposal reflecting the hopes and aspirations of the people of Bangladesh.

“As part of this initiative, opinions are being collected from people of different professions and social groups across the country ahead of the budget session for the 2026–27 fiscal year,” he said.

He described education as one of the most important sectors in a country’s national budget and stressed the need to determine how budget management in the sector should be structured.

According to the Jamaat leader, the party also wants to identify necessary policy measures for meaningful reforms, along with the problems and prospects in the education sector, through consultation with stakeholders.

In this context, the pre-budget dialogue will be held on Tuesday, 19 May, at 3:00pm at the Abdus Salam Hall of the National Press Club.

The event will be attended by central leaders and MPs of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, political leaders, educationists, teacher representatives, student representatives and other stakeholders related to the education sector, the statement added.
