At least 11 children have died of measles and related symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours from 8:00am on Friday to 8:00am on Saturday.
With this, the total death toll has risen to 251 from measles and measles-like symptoms over the past one and a half months. Of these, 42 were confirmed measles cases, while 209 were suspected.
The information was confirmed in a press release issued on Saturday by the control room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
During the same period, 4,460 children were confirmed to have contracted measles, while 30,607 others were reported as suspected cases.
Health officials said the rising fatalities indicate a worsening public health situation, with concerns growing over the spread of the highly contagious disease.
