Eight people suffered burn injuries in a boiler explosion at a steel mill in Shyampur area of the capital on Wednesday.
The injured were identified as Hira, 35, Manik, 45, Rajib Ali, 29, Arshad, 45, Khalilur Rahman, 56, Md Liton, 32, Matiur Rahman, 22 and Yusuf, 40.
The explosion occurred at about 10:00am at the RS Steel Mill when the boiler of the mill exploded with a big bang, leaving eight people injured.
The injured were taken to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, said Shaon Bin Rahman, resident physician at the institute.
Among the injured, Hira received 17 per cent injuries while Manik 40 per cent, Rajib Ali four per cent, Arshad 11 per cent, Khalilur Rahman nine per cent, Liton 7 per cent, Matiur Rahman 10 per cent and Yusuf received 5 per cent burns, he said.
Six injured victims were given first aid while Manik and Hira were kept under observation.
