Fire breaks out in Chattogram’s Terry Bazar, two dead

Two people were killed in a fire that broke out at a multi-storey market in the Teribazar area under Kotwali police station in the port city.

The fire erupted on Thursday afternoon. Fire service personnel rushed to the scene and managed to bring the blaze under control after about an hour of effort.

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Yunus (52), son of Mohammad Yasin Khalifa from Bodhupur Mirza Bari area of Patiya upazila, and Solaiman (28), son of Mamunul Kader from Pachuria area of the same upazila.

According to the fire service, four units from two stations were deployed to the scene immediately after receiving the fire alert at 9:50 am. The firefighters brought the blaze under control around 10:53 am.

Further details about the cause of the fire were not immediately available.
