The Newspapers Owners’ Association of Bangladesh has elected its new executive committee with Matiur Rahman Chowdhury, chief editor of the daily Manab Zamin, as its president and ASM Shahidullah Khan, chairman of New Age editorial board, as vice-president.
Altamash Kabir, editor of Bangla daily Sangbad, has been elected as the treasurer, said a press release of the association on Saturday.
At a board meeting on Saturday, the committee members were elected unopposed for the 2026-2027 term.
The executive members elected are AK Azad, managing director of Bangla daily Samakal, Matiur Rahman, editor and publisher of Prothom Alo, Mahfuz Anam, editor and publisher of The Daily Star, Tasmima Hossain, editor of Ittefaq, AMM Bahauddin, editor of The Daily Inqilab, Dewan Hanif Mahmud, editor of Bonik Barta, Mozammel Hoque, editor of daily Karatoa, MA Malek, editor of Dainik Azadi, M Ramiz Uddin Chowdhury, editor of Dainik Purbokone, and Nasim Manzur, publisher of The Financial Express.
