Akbar Ali is set to lead the BCL All Stars team, which will face the Bangladesh national team in a warm-up game today as a preparation ahead of the forthcoming three-match ODI series against Pakistan.
The day-night match is scheduled to begin at 2:15PM at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
The squad also features the likes of Soumya Sarkar, Mahidul Islam, and Tanvir Islam, who have been named in the 15-member ODI squad of the national team.
The BCL All Stars also feature the youngsters Mahfijul Islam, Ripon Mondol, Abdul Gaffar Saqlain, Robiul Haque, Rakibul Hasan, and Jishan Alam.
Mosaddek Hossain, who has had a good outing in the BCL One Day, has also been named in the squad.
The all-rounder was among the cricketers who were dropped from the final list of the auction of the last edition of the Bangladesh Premier League after being red-flagged by the Integrity Unit of the BCB.
The national team began their scheduled practice ahead of the ODI series on Friday.
The recently concluded Bangladesh Cricket League presented a platform for the players to prepare for the series, which would mark their return to international cricket after more than three months.
The national team last played a T20I series against Ireland in early December last year.
They were supposed to take part in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup but pulled out after they had refused to travel to India, citing security reasons.
The Pakistan national team, led by pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, is supposed to arrive in Dhaka on March 9.
This will be the first phase of a two-phase tour, as Pakistan will return to Bangladesh in May for a two-Test series under the ICC World Test Championship.
The first of the three-match series is scheduled on March 11 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
The next two matches will be held at the same venue on March 13 and 15, respectively. All matches will be day-night affairs.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board on Friday launched the tickets for the series online. Fans can watch the matches by purchasing tickets ranging from 200 tk to 2000 tk.
