Senior secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Nasimul Ghani has been appointed as the cabinet secretary on a contractual basis.

The Ministry of Public Administration on Monday issued a notification in this regard.

According to a gazette notification, Nasimul Ghani has been transferred and posted as cabinet secretary at the Cabinet Division.

The order, issued in the public interest, takes immediate effect, the notification said.

Nasimul Ghani had been serving as senior secretary of the home ministry on contract prior to his new appointment.

Earlier on Saturday, the contractual appointment of the then cabinet secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid was cancelled through a separate notification issued by the public administration ministry.

At that time, principal secretary to the chief adviser M Siraj Uddin Mia was given the additional charge of cabinet secretary alongside his existing responsibilities.
