The Election Commission (EC) has imposed a ban on motorcycle movement for three days ahead of the 13th parliamentary election and the referendum slated for 12 February.

In addition, movement of trucks, microbuses, and taxicabs will remain suspended for 24 hours on election day.

On Tuesday, EC Deputy Secretary Mohammad Manir Hossain sent a letter to the Road Transport and Highways Division to implement the directive.

The three-day ban on motorcycles will take effect from 11 February. Vessel movement will also be restricted on election day.

In addition, no candidate or their supporters will be allowed to set up election camps or conduct campaigns within 400 yards of any polling centre, according to a notice issued by the commission.

All posters, leaflets, and other campaign materials must be removed before the start of voting, it said.

Furthermore, candidates or anyone on their behalf cannot use any vehicles to bring voters to the polling centres on election day, the commission said.
