He made the remarks on Saturday at the BNP’s central office in Naya Paltan, Dhaka, while speaking at a prayer and discussion program organized by Jubo Dal to mark the birthday of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
Salahuddin Ahmed said, “Those who are raising doubts about the election through various statements against democracy are not forces in favor of democracy, nor are they on the side of the people of Bangladesh. For one reason or another, they are twisting their words in order to delay or disrupt the election. But the people of Bangladesh are united for democracy, united for exercising their right to vote.”
Referring to contemporary politics, he added that Begum Khaleda Zia is providing guidance:
“Following her instructions, BNP is moving along the democratic path through dialogue and discussion. To build a democratic state, anti-fascist forces must unite under a national consensus.”
