Onion at Tk 45 per kg: TCB starts selling at 35 points in city

The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) is selling onion at Tk 45 per kg at 35 points in Dhaka today to check its skyrocketing prices.
The move came in the wake of the rising onion prices that has led to public outcry.
One can able to purchase at best two kilograms of onion as per the decision.
The onion prices increased by Tk 25 per kg in the retail market of the capital on Monday after the Indian government imposed ban on the export of onions.
Talking to newsmen on Monday, Commerce Secretary Dr Mohammad Jafar Uddin said, “Stringent measure will be taken if anybody is found involved in hoarding onion for creating an artificial crisis in the market.”
