The Awami League will not demonstrate any bias in favour of its candidates or the party-linked independent contenders in the upcoming general election, scheduled to be held on 7 January.
Obaidul Quader, general secretary of the ruling party, made the statement at a briefing at the Awami League president’s Dhanmondi political office in Dhaka on Sunday.
He said the Awami League will not tolerate any sort of anti-election violence as the party wants a violence-free peaceful parliamentary election in the country. “Whoever is found guilty must be punished.”
