A 45-year-old woman and her daughter were stabbed to death by unidentified killers in the municipality area of Noakhali Sadar upazila on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Nur Nahar Begum, wife of Fazle Azim Kochi and their daughter Fatema Azim Priyonti, residents of Guptanko Barlington area in the municipality.

Mizanur Rahman Pathan, officer-in-charge of Sudharam Police Station said that a group of miscreants swooped on the house of Nur Nahar at about 10:45am and stabbed her and her daughter, leaving the mother on the spot and the daughter injured.

Later, she was taken to a local hospital where doctors declared her dead.

Police arrested a man in this connection.

The motive behind the killing could not be known immediately.
