Outage intensifies sufferings as 40 lakh people trapped by flood in Sylhet, Sunamganj

A number of 40 lakh people are worst affected, electricity disconnected and communications snapped as Sylhet and Sunamganj districts are hard hit by devastating flood.
Continuous rain coupled with overflowing of rivers has deteriorated the flood situation, sources said.
Rail communications from Sylhet to other places has been halted due to inundation rail tracks.
Bangladesh Army already introduced toll free numbers to assist flood affected people while Bangladesh Navy has participated in the rescue operations.
The situation may aggravate further as Met Office forecast more precipitation especially in the flood-affected districts.
