After bus fare hike, the launch fare has been increased by 35 percent in the country.
Launch owners have withdrawn their ongoing strike following the decision of fare hike.
The minimum fare has been fixed at Tk 30 from the existing Tk 18.
The authorities of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) and launch owners took the decision at a meeting in Dhaka today.
The fare for up to 100km has been increased to Tk 2.30 from Tk 1.70 and Tk 2 from Tk 1.40 for further distance.
