Shwdesh Desk: Police arrested an elderly person on the charge of attempting to rape a fifth grader girl in Indurkani upazila of Pirojpur district on Saturday.

The arrestee was identified as Firoz Talukdar, 70.

Firoz attempted to rape the girl on Saturday morning while she was getting ready for school at her house.
Hearing the scream of the girl, the mother and neighbors rushed to the spot and rescued her.

Later, the mother of the victim filed a lawsuit against Feroz Talukdar with Indurkani Police Station over alleged rape attempt on her daughter.

Habibur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station, confirmed the matter to media and said, police arrested Feroz Talukder immediately following the filing of the case.

The accused was sent to jail after he was produced before a local court on Saturday afternoon, he added.
